MISSION STATEMENT:

We want to know, glorify and enjoy God forever; and to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded.

(Based on Westminster Catechism and Matthew 28:19-20 - covering both our individual relationship with God; and our purpose and interaction with the world around us)

VALUES:

Veritas - Humanitas - Fortitudo = Truth - Courtesy - Courage

(Based on my highschool motto at Pittwater High, NSW, Australia  - I have re-defined the definitions for my family's values and to put God at the center)

Truth: This is all about integrity between inward and outward appearance and behavior. It refers to a desire to speak truth in everything, to be eager to hear truth, and to promote truth.

Courtesy: This covers hospitality and graciousness in our home; friendliness, kindness, philanthropy - a purposeful way of interacting with people that draws them into relationship, or assists them with life and welcomes them into our home and life. We want our home and our lives to be a respite for people. It also covers our perspective on our possessions - courtesy speaks to holding 'things' loosely and recognizing that since it is all God's anyway, all that we have is available to share with those in need.

Courage: Moral, mental and physical bravery or fortitude in all things plus the ability to withstand whatever hardship comes our way. It is linked to truth in that it takes courage to stand up and even fight for what is right or true; and it takes courage to obey God.

FAMILY VERSES:

  • He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.         Micah 6:8
  • But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.  Joshua 24:15

COMMITMENT:

(Penned by a young pastor in Zimbwawe, Africa - martyred for his faith)

  • I'm part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still
  • My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure.
  • I'm finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.
  • I no longer need pre-eminence, property, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity.
  • I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded.
  • I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power.
  • My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way rough, my companions few, my guide reliable, my mission clear.
  • I cannot be bought, deluded, or delayed.
  • I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
  • I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, preached up for the cause of Christ.
  • I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till he comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops me.
  • And when He comes for His own, He will have no problems recognizing me - my banner will be clear!
